Risk Education
WHAT IT IS
The Mines Fraternity & Sorority Life Office believes in providing well-rounded education to its members that offers training in risk management, well-being, and other areas of prevention. You can take a look at some of the options that are provided below.
IMPORTANT REMINDERS FOR ACTIVE MEMBERS:
- Active members (not including new members of that semester, temp. inactive of that semester, and graduate students) are the only ones who are required to attend. Status is based on chapter rosters provided to the FSL office.
- A fine of $25 per member will be issued to each chapter for members who fail to attend an event. The chapter president or another executive officer may request an updated running list to see who has completed their required risk menu workshop and who has not in their specific organization.
- To ensure our campus partners can manage high demand effectively, private chapter workshops are no longer eligible for Risk Menu credit.
- Chapters are welcome to continue partnering on smaller programs for general engagement, though they will not satisfy the risk menu related criteria. These separate workshops can count towards the Pillar Program requirements though.
- Active members must attend at least one risk menu workshop from the provided options by the deadline set by the FSL office each semester.
- Invoices for risk menu fines need to be paid to the FSL Office by the invoice due date for chapters to remain in good standing.
- It is the members’ responsibility to register in advance on Ore Connect for the workshop they wish to attend. Additionally, members must check in at the event with their student CWID or Blaser card to receive attendance credit.
- Make sure to arrive early to allow for time to check-in (no later than 5 minutes past the start time). Members who arrive late will not receive credit for that workshop and will need to attend another workshop.
For a full list of available events, please see the graphics below. Other opportunities may be added throughout the semester based on campus partner availability.
